I created this site as a place to gather and share information about the “Smith Special”, a race car built in Perth, Western Australia for the 1951 Australian Grand Prix

I would also like to acknowledge the great help so far from Ken Devine, Ray Bell, Terry Walker, Paul Blank, Rodney Williams and a bunch of others. We are only temporary custodians of these special pieces of history and as time passes and memories fade I hope this site serves to document all there is about this unique car.

So, have a look around, lots of pictures and history. I am also attempting a blog (latest news etc)

Finally – a big shout out to all the contributors of what surely must be one of the worlds longest running forum threads. Started in Jan 2011, its had more twists and turns than a good mystery novel and ultimately great detective work bought it all together. Was a great source of information to me and the loss of some of the ealier pics from the site was part of the inspiration for this one. You can find it here (Harry Smith – Australian Grand Prix, 1951), be warned though, you will need a nice red and a few hours 🙂

If anyone reading this (hoping for a few) has information they would like to share, would love to hear from you

cheers
