Owners

This section is somewhat fluid, recent history (post 1970) is pretty well documented but the period post Harry’s death and before Warren purchasing the car in 1970 remain sketchy.

We do know the car spent time in regional WA as well as Perth so the list below is very much a “work in progress” and will be updated as I uncover more information

Warren Scally

Warren is the one that found the car in Jandakot (a southern suburb of Perth), the car was parked in a swampy area on a large property and had been sitting for some time. The property owner was not the car owner (was simply abandoned/stored on their property) and Warren remembers dealing with someone from Kalgoolie for the sale (I assume Ron)

Warren did not really know what the car was, he thought it might of been an Allard and did make contact with the XXXX museum who agreed it may well be. He installed some Austin A30 seats, modified some Hillman minx bumpers to look like the ones he had seen on Allards. Interestingly it was a pale green in colour

Warren kept the car for two years, did some restoration work and painted the car in BRG, eventually sold the car at auction via Sotheby’s

Terry Healey

Updated this section, these pics are from Carlton (Melb VIC) when Terry owned the car – he later moved to Brisbane

Clarrie Pearce

I don’t really know too much about Clarrie, I have been told that he refused to purchase the car until it was painted white (its current paint job) and that during his ownership the car was thought to be an Allard (a “special” or prototype version)

Clarrie entered the car in at least two Dutton rallies and unfortunately passed before the true identity of the Smith was revealed

Rodney Williams

Rodney was who I purchased the car off and is the person responsible for a major (and high quality) mechanical restoration over a number of years

Rodney is also the one that solved the riddle in terms of the original AGP history of the car.

Great article in the Hobart Mercury of Rodney taking the car to the Baskerville Historics
