Like much of the early history of the car, I am going on what I can find publicly (forums, websites) and from conversations of those familiar with the car. Below is what I believe to be the early racing career of the the car (as with all of this site, happy to be corrected)
First Race – Pre-AGP Mooliabeenie, 25th February 1951
Really don’t have much to go on here, no pictures just the race results from Terry Walkers excellent site. The meet was a week before the AGP and was most certainly a “shake down” for the main event featuring most of the main drivers/cars
Last Race – 1951 Australian Grand Prix, 5th March, 1951
This was a big event for WA, the first time the Grand Prix had ever been held in WA and newspapers report a hug crowd of over 35,000 for the event
Unfortunately I don’t have many photos of the race, always on the lookout for more !!
Maybe – Mundaring Hill Climb, 24th February 1951
This is a distinct possibility, held on the day before the Mooliabeenie meeting and also featuring some drivers that went onto the GP. I note that the car shown against Harry is called a Ford Mercury (not the Smith Special), that is why I have it down as a possible (the engine in the car is a Mercury V8)
